Arches Modeling Demo
Notes: The Arches Modeling demo site will be refreshed on Sundays at 5:00 AM GMT. Any data you enter into the system will be deleted.
While visiting the Arches Modeling demo site, you will be automatically logged in to the “demo-user” account. This will ensure that you have the appropriate access to explore the site.
The Arches Modeling interactive demo site was created to give those who are evaluating Arches or are preparing to implement Arches the ability to create Arches Resource Models using the Arches Designer without having to deploy the Arches Platform on their own. It will also be used as learning resource for those who are seeking to learn more about model development and the Arches Designer.
Demo Data
Unlike the other Arches interactive demo sites, the Arches Modeling demo does not include business data, but it does include Resource Models as examples. The Resource Models have been loaded from the OGEE package and include the following:
- Activity
- Digital Object
- Event
- Group
- Person
- Physical Object
- Place
- Provenance Activity
- Set
- Textual Work
- Visual Work
The OGEE Resource Models have been loaded onto the Arches Modeling Demo site to give users the opportunity to inspect the underlying modeling. An interactive demo site that illustrates how the OGEE package can be used, including relevant business data, is coming soon.
As a note, the OGEE Resource Models currently use the concept/concept-list data types and use the Reference Data Manager to manage controlled vocabularies. The Reference Data Manager has been deprecated and will be fully removed in Arches Version 9. New resource models should use the reference data type and the Controlled List Manager to manage controlled vocabularies.
Experimental Plug-in: Graph Relation Viewer
Included in the Arches Modeling Demo is an experimental plug-in called the Graph Relation Viewer.
This plug-in gives modelers the ability to select a Resource Model and visualize its relationship to other Resource Models through resource-instance nodes
Arches Modeling Interest Group
To learn more about creating Resource Models using Arches, anyone can join the Arches Modeling Interest Group, which meets online quarterly. To watch videos of past meetings, see the Arches Modeling Interest Group playlist on YouTube. Topics discussed include modeling basics, the FAIR and CARE principles, Arches Designer updates in Arches Version 8, the Controlled List Manager, and more.
