We are pleased to provide an update on advancing priority goals identified during the November 2025 in-person Arches governance meeting. The following are selected initiatives for which we can report progress:
Arches Registry: Governance committees have begun work to create an Arches Registry as part of the Arches Project website. It will provide a means for anyone to share information about their Arches-powered implementations with others. The vision for the registry is that members of the community with similar needs can connect to share experiences, software customizations and enhancements, data modeling work, translations, and user guidance, and potentially pool resources for mutual benefit. Information in the registry can also demonstrate to others ways that Arches is being used and potentially provide inspiration.
Arches Audience Survey: Governance committees are preparing an Arches audience survey to better understand the profile of the variety of members of the Arches open-source community across the world, as well as to gather input on ways that they might be better served. The survey is intended to help provide governance committees with additional information to inform their work.
Arches and AI: Governance committees have been gathering information about various exploratory assessments of how AI agents might be used productively in relation to Arches, including leveraging the Arches semantic data structure. This will inform creation of a new webpage on the Arches Project website about Arches and AI.
Arches Modularization: The Technical Advisory Committee has discussed at length the benefits of evolving Arches from a single integrated system towards a more modular architecture, shifting components into Arches extensions and streamlining the core platform Discussions have included determining what is necessary for the community to align on an approach. These discussions will continue at the Arches Developer Meeting in June in Sheffield. The recent proposal for an Arches Search extension has been a focal point of discussion, serving as a test case for this approach.
Arches LTS Release: The Technical Advisory Committee has also detailed both firm and potential plans for software updates and enhancements to consider for inclusion in the next Arches long term support release, which is expected in December 2026. This summary of plans for the next LTS is currently being expanded on to be shared with the Community Advisory Committee for input.
We will continue to keep the community informed as these and other governance initiatives advance.
